Recently we announced we had teamed up with SCI-FI-LONDON for their 48hr film challenge, to offer one of the shortlisted teams mentoring, £10,000 and a package of in-kind support towards a micro-budget feature … and of course a premiere at the SCI-FI-LONDON festival in 2015!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the challenge, here’s what happened:

The teams went to the BFI Southbank on Saturday 12 April at 10.00am where they were given a TITLE of the film to make, some DIALOGUE that one of their characters must say to screen, and a list of PROPS that must be seen in the film. They also got given an optional scientific theme or idea… this could have been nano-tech, cloning, gene-splicing…or something a little more “fringe”.

Once the teams received their elements, they had until Monday morning to return the completed movie to SCI-FI LONDON.

The entries poured forth and we were very, very excited to see such a high-quality of shorts. In fact, so impressed were we, that we decided they should all get an airing, and where better than on our YouTube channel? and thus the ‘Summer Of Sci-Fi’ online short film festival was born.

From 4th August we’ll be releasing a number of the finalist shorts every week, alongside exclusive interviews with the filmmakers telling their 48hr story. We want your input dear community, to help us choose a winner – so do join us each week Sharing/Liking/Commenting on the vids so we know which ones rock your world. It’s going to be a very tricky decision to make.
